Ambrosio tubular wheelset

Looking on the closeout deals section of the Wheelsmith web site I noticed some NOS Ambrosio Metamorphosis Durex Servizio Corse 28h rims at a knock down price. I thought it would be nice to build a really cheap retro tubular wheel set for the De Rosa. I ordered a pair of these rims then thought about hubs. Patrick and myself and been thinking about building a tubular wheel set based on Ambrosio Nemesis "La reine du nord" rims and PMP hubs for the Specialized S-Works Tarmac. However it was decided that was a luxury which couldn't be justified. So I knew the hubs needed to be in a different category. Wheelsmith had just sold their last NOS 1994 Campagnolo silver Record hubs in 28h so I had to look elsewhere. Patrick had the idea to build a wheeset with an Italian Tricolour theme and suggested Miche Racing Box hubs and Vittoria Pave EVO CG tubulars. The Miche hubs were available on Parker International for a good price. The 2010 Vittoria Pave EVO CG tubular was available from High on Bikes for a very good price so these were ordered.

However, instead of Miche Racing Box hubs, a pair of Ambrosio Zenith hubs were found in GB Cycles and these were purchased instead. The intention is to get AD Cylces to build the wheels using Sapim silver spokes with gold nipples. The front built radial if possible. For the full History Log click here.
