I chose the Thomson Road Elite X2 primarily because it is one of the few road stems available in silver. I had set an objective not to use black components on the Master Pista. Personally, I never understood the almost total migration from silver to black components. I think the current trend of white components is quite telling. Whilst white components are very popular and attractive now, I chose silver to give that retro look to the bike. The choice of Thomson however dispels any criticism of the bike being "old fashion". Note the stem is fitted with a shim to fit the 1" steerer tube.
