Pedals, toe-clips and straps

MKS RX-1

These pedals are superb! I wanted a cleatless pedal but despaired of finding anything quality. But looking at the web sites of fixed gear shops in London I found the Japanese company MKS. Whilst I'd heard of MKS, generally the cheaper varieties are only seen. The RX-1 is a top-end pedal designed for Keiran (track) racing and comes certified for such use by NJS. I found reference to these gold versions on an American web site. Further research identified Cavendish Cycles in London selling gold RX-1. So I hot-footed down to Cavendish the next morning (March 2009) and purchased a pair.

MKS Alloy toe clips

I wanted some steel toe clips for the RX-1 but Cavendish had none in stock. However they did have gold, pink and green alloy versions from MKS. As the RX-1, they are NJS certified. I chose gold to go with the RX-1. They won't last long, but they will get me up and running.

TOSHI DeLuxe Single - Red

Having got pedals and toe-clips, I needed straps. To complete an all Japanese set-up these Toshi Fujitoshis were the only choice. Very expensive but they should last. All I'm now lacking are Toshi button ends.

TOSHI DeLuxe toe straps. These are really nice, probabaly the nicest toe straps ever made! To top it off, they are NJS certified for professional racing! These straps have 2 split-leather layers with a nylon layer sandwiched between to prevent strecth.

Heavy-duty chromed steel buckles have 2 rivets connecting them to the strap for long-life. The choice of many Pro's world-wide! Made in Japan by FujiToshi.

Mavic Avenir

For the more adventurous in our household, these Mavic Avenir pedals have been fitted; but only when riding with the freewheel. Purchased Evans Gatwick July 2009 (for the Trek 1500).
